The session aimed to provide fundamental knowledge of gene therapy principles, highlight approved therapies and ongoing global research, and introduce advanced gene editing technologies such as CRISPR-Cas systems.The event is conducted on 30-12-2025. It covered key mechanisms including gene replacement, gene silencing, and gene editing, along with somatic and germline gene therapy approaches and viral and non-viral delivery systems. Recent FDA-approved gene therapies and emerging precision medicine technologies were also discussed. As an outcome, participants gained a clear understanding of gene therapy applications, increased awareness of current clinical advancements, improved knowledge of modern gene editing tools, and enhanced interest in research opportunities and future careers in pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences.
Introduction to Journal Club for B. Pharm First Year Students
The session aimed to familiarize first-year B.Pharmacy students with the concept and functioning of the Journal Club as part of the induction program. Students were introduced to the importance of Journal Clubs in developing a research-oriented mindset, critical thinking, and presentation skills. They were guided on selecting, reading, analyzing, and presenting scientific articles, along with understanding abstracts, results, and conclusions through sample papers. The session helped create awareness about research literacy and encouraged students to confidently engage with scientific literature. Overall, the interaction generated interest among newly admitted students to actively participate in upcoming Journal Club activities throughout the academic year.

A step-by-step demonstration of Zotero was provided, covering its key features, installation, and use. Participants learned how to collect and organize references, attach PDFs and notes, and generate citations and bibliographies in various styles. Advanced features such as library syncing and group sharing were also demonstrated, highlighting Zotero’s efficiency in managing research references.

It highlighted how AI is transforming pharmacovigilance by enabling faster and more accurate detection of adverse drug reactions through machine learning and natural language processing. These technologies analyze large datasets from various sources to automate case processing, identify patterns, and predict potential risks, thereby enhancing patient safety. Despite challenges like data bias and regulatory concerns, AI offers immense potential to make pharmacovigilance more efficient and proactive.
